A trio of Premier League clubs are expressing a keen interest in Arsenal youngster Reiss Nelson, according to reports.
21-year-old winger Nelson is of course fresh off the back of another trying campaign in North London.
After beginning to remind Gunners supporters of his unquestionable talents over the closing months of the 2019/20 season, it was hoped that Nelson would subsequently kick on this time around, to establish himself as a viable attacking option under Mikel Arteta.
To say that such hopes fell flat, however, would be putting it lightly.
Amid competition from the likes of Nicolas Pepe, Willian and fellow youngsters Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, the Arsenal youth product was restricted to a paltry two Premier League appearances across the entire season.
Such struggles, in turn, have inevitably seen speculation begin to spread in the media that Nelson’s stint in the English capital could be set to come to an end this summer, with consistent game-time of course integral at such a delicate point in a player’s development.
Palace amongst suitors
And, if Mikel Arteta and co. do, in the end, opt to sanction a permanent departure for their young winger, it does not look like they will be short on suitors.
This comes with no less than three rival Premier League clubs expressing a keen interest in Nelson’s signature.
The outfits in question? Crystal Palace, Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion.
As per a report from the reliable James Benge of CBS Sports, the board at the Emirates have offered fresh terms to the 21-year-old, ahead of the expiration of his current Gunners contract in 12 months’ time.
This comes with a view to sending Nelson out on loan for the 2021/22 campaign.
The attacker himself, however, has thus far knocked back the advances of his long-time club, meaning Arsenal could be forced to sanction a permanent departure over the weeks ahead.
The aforementioned trio of English clubs, along with Greek Giants Olympiacos and a host of sides from the Bundesliga have, in turn, made their interest in Nelson’s services clear.
