Explained: Why Chelsea are now UNLIKELY to sign Enzo Fernández on Deadline Day

Chelsea’s Deadline Day move for Enzo Fernández looks to be in some doubt now...

Chelsea have been working on a sensational, late move for Enzo Fernández.

Having failed to sign him earlier in the window and other targets also being missed out on, the Blues re-entered talks with Benfica.

But following Deadline Day talks, the move is now edging towards not happening and here’s why...

Enzo to Chelsea: “The transfer looks complicated...”

Chelsea and Benfica remain locked in talks over a deal for Enzo Fernández.

The west London club are desperately trying to agree a deal ahead of the deadline.

But, at this stage, the deal looks unlikely to happen, as per César Luis Merlo.

Chelsea’s offer currently stands at €120 million in 6 payments.

That does not look like it will be enough to get the Argentine with no agreement close between the two clubs.

Graham Potter is set to lose Jorginho to Arsenal and another midfield option so his signing is needed more than ever.

With the Italian heading out the door and Benfica having lined up a replacement, a deal felt like it was very much possible.

But unfortunately for the west Londoners, with the deadline approaching and no agreement close, Fernández looks set to remain in Portugal.
