Everton ‘sign’ Frank Fabra

According to reports out of South America on Tuesday, Everton have done a deal with Boca Juniors for Frank Fabra.

The story has been broken by Emiliano Raddi, who works as a producer for ESPN.

It’s claimed that the Boca Juniors full-back Frank Fabra will join Everton. Fabra’s representatives were reportedly in England last week, and talks over his Goodison Park switch are at an “advanced” stage.

Everton are said to be ponying up more than £5 million for the Colombian defender.

Who is Frank Fabra?

Frank Fabra is a 27-year-old left-back.

Under contract at Boca Juniors until 2019, Frank Fabra has so far played 19 matches this season, scoring twice and chipping in with three assists.

Fabra seems to be targeted as a back-up to the ageing Leighton Baines.

The Colombian star will feature of the national side at this year’s World Cup and that means that a transfer is likely to be done straight after the end of the season.

With a very quick turnaround between the Premier League season and the World Cup, deals will need to be completed swiftly with the new deadline day also in effect which will see the window close before the season starts in August.

Colombia have been drawn against Japan, Poland and Senegal at this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Frank Fabra has 18 international caps and one goal for his country.
