Everton & Barcelona
Every day right now, transfer stories are swirling around Everton.
Ronald Koeman has been busy buying new players. He’s shelled out £22 million up front, rising to £30 million with add-ons, to land Sunderland keeper Jordan Pickford.
Everton have also signed Davy Klaassen from Ajax for £23.6 million while Sandro Ramirez has reportedly passed his medical too.
At the same time, Romelu Lukaku is certain to leave the club, Chelsea his likely destination, while Ross Barkley is also poised to leave Everton, possibly heading to Tottenham.
Staying with the outgoings, the Times have reported on Monday that Everton and Barcelona are close to completing a deal for midfielder Gerard Deulofeu.
The Times report that Everton are set to make money on selling Deulofeu to the Catalans. The broadsheet reports:
Barcelona are to activate their buyback clause for Gerard Deulofeu which will trigger a payment of about £10.5 million to Everton for the winger. The fee is double the amount that the Merseyside club paid in a deal two years ago for the player, who has failed to impress his manager, Ronald Koeman.
Deulofeu spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan where he scored four goals in 17 appearances to remind Barcelona of his usefulness. The Spanish club failed to take up a £6.3 million option to buy him back 12 months ago.
In the meantime, reports are circling that Swansea playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson is another star on Everton’s shopping list, while on Sunday the Danish press linked to Toffees with moves for Feyenoord centre-forward Nicolai Jørgensen and Ajax striker Kasper Dolberg.
