One of the leading stories in Globo on Wednesday centres on Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato.
For months now Pato has been linked with a return to Europe, with the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool and West Ham all mentioned as possible suitors in England.
Aside from the Premier League clubs, Barcelona have also been linked with the 26-year-old striker.
At this point, the bigger question seems to be which clubs haven’t been linked to Pato!
The striker and his personal manager, Gilmar Veloz, travelled to Europe on Monday to meet up with agent Kia Joorabchian in order to wrap up a move from Brazil this winter. However his current employers, Corinthians, have now made a late play to try to keep the forward at the club.
Pato spent last season on loan at Sao Paulo.
[Pato] is a great player. I want him. He’s our future.
He did a great last year [at Sao Paulo], it was a maturing process… He made important goals, and he enjoyed a major campaign in Sao Paulo. We would wlecome him back with open arms, yes!
Despite this late plea to the player, Corinthians are believed willing to accept €25 million for Pato.
Pato has one year to go on his Corinthians deal and will be available on a free transfer in January 2017.
