The transfer window maybe shut, but the deals keep happening.

One of the stories which captured the imagination on transfer deadline day was Aston Villa’s pursuit of Bulgarian hero Dimitar Berbatov.

The 34-year-old free-agent was at Villa’s Bodymoor Heath training ground on Tuesday, however the former Tottenham and Man United striker failed to reach an agreement with the club amid talk that parties could not agree on the wage structure.

Villa’s loss is now PAOK’s gain, as the Greek club have announced on Wednesday morning that Berbatov is now their man.

PAOK made the announcement on their website, as Berbatov has been handed a one year contract at the club.

Berbatov enjoyed a good spell at Monaco, bagging 23 goals in 38 games during the 2014-15 season but did not have his contract renewed by the French club.

Despite missing out on Berbatov, Villa brought in a total of 13 new players in the transfer window, including Scott Sinclair, Micah Richards, Idrissa Gueye, Jordan Amavi, Jordan Ayew, Rudy Gestede and Adama Traore.
