The Sam Allardyce revolution starts at Palace
With new manager Sam Allardyce installed and Crystal Palace coming off the back of a woeful 2016, the Eagles were always going to spend big in the winter transfer window.
With Wilfried Zaha away at the Africa Cup of Nations, Allardyce needs new players and he needs them quickly with a Premier League match at West Ham coming up on Saturday.
On Thursday afternoon, it emerged that Crystal Palace are close to signing Jeffrey Schlupp for £12 million from Leicester City.
Leicester fans in hysterics
The general reaction from Crystal Palace fans has been positive, with Eagles fans pleased that they are spending money early in the January transfer window.
In addition, Palace need reinforcements down the left side with their full backs – where Schlupp can play – really struggling this season.
There are also suggestions that Palace could switch to the en vogue 3-5-2 with Schlupp raiding down the left from deep.
Leicester fans however have a remarkably different view on things…
Sounds strange but I'm embarrassed Leicester have asked for 12 mil for Schlupp. He is worth 10 pounds at best.

Claudio: "Schlupp @LCFC is not happy." I am not happy every time he dribbles down a blind alley / kicks ball out of play. Sell

£12m for Schlupp ffs. Plus Jenkinson. Crystal Palace should be relegated for that reason alone

@jon_ellacott Brady is an actual footballer. Schlupp is quick with the technical skills of a Sunday league player.

Premier League's proper weird isn't it. £12m for Jeffrey Schlupp is absurd.

£12m for Schlupp is great business tbh. Decent impact player on left wing but not much more.

Take care @Jeffrey_Schlupp. Mansfield away, I proclaimed that you were the Ghanaian Bale. It turns out you were the 2nd coming of Big Trev.

Schlupp moves a step closer to the City exit. Don't be surprised if he misses it
