Almost every transfer since his move in 2011, David de Gea has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
The goalkeeper joined the Red Devils from Real’s city rivals Atletico Madrid and quickly established himself as a fan favourite at Old Trafford.
That still hasn’t stopped the rumours of a departure. In 2015, the move came close to materialising, but the deal fell throw at the last minute due to supposed technical difficulties with a fax machine.
De Gea put in another fine performance on Tuesday night, as Man United returned to the Champions League with a 3-0 home win over Basel.
Biggest hint yet
The 26-year-old may have accidentally dropped the biggest hint yet that he intends to remain at Old Trafford for years to come.
De Gea recently bought a new home very close to Old Trafford, the Sun have reported.
There were fears that De Gea wanted out earlier this year after his sold his mansion wort close to £4m, but the Spaniard has now purchased a new pad.
“They have only moved around the corner, but he will still have plenty of packing to do,” an unnamed source to the Sun.
“He has numerous Man of the Match awards to ship and has hired local firm Osbournes to do the heavy lifting.”
“It looks like good news for the club, and the fans should not be losing any sleep, he has long-term plans here.”
Next up for Premier League leaders Man United is the visit of Everton, which will see the club’s all-time leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney return to Old Trafford.
Paul Pogba will miss the match after picking up an injury on Tuesday night, which could keep him out of action for close to two months.
