Crystal Palace & RB Leipzig’s Oliver Burke
This could be huge news for Crystal Palace.
And the Eagles are in desperate need of some positivity after they were hammered 3-0 last weekend in the Premier League by Huddersfield.
According to reliable German news outlet Kicker, Crystal Palace have revealed their “concrete interest” in signing RB Leipzig’s Scottish international forward Oliver Burke.
Oliver Burke isn’t wanted
Kicker tell their readers that Oliver Burke is on his way out of Leipzig and on the verge of a return to England.
He became the most expensive Scottish footballer of all-time when he join the Bundesliga side from Nottingham Forest for £15 million in 2016.
Burke has often been compared to Real Madrid star Gareth Bale as they both have superb left feet, while they can beat opponents at pace.
However, Leipzig are now of the opinion that Burke has shown little improvement with regard to tactical understanding and work without ball.
With that being the case, Leipzig are open to Burke leaving the club. Rather than a loan move, however, Leipzig favour a sale.
Crystal Palace & competition
Burke joining Crystal Palace makes sense for the Eagles, particularly after rumours have spread that Wilfried Zaha may be out of action for a month through injury.
Kicker note that Palace face competition to sign Burke from “several English clubs” who have also made inquiries about the forward.
Kicker, unfortunately, fail to name those other interested parties.
The update tails off with the note that RB Leipzig are refusing to absorb a loss in any deal for Burke.
That means Crystal Palace will have to pay at least £15 million for the 20-year-old.
