Globosport, the huge Brazilian media outlet, have announced overnight that Tottenham midfielder Paulinho is on the wanted list of Brazilian champions Cruzeiro.
Paulinho has struggled to make himself a regular under Mauricio Pochettino, making just a handful of appearances for the club all season for Spurs.
That has lead to the South American being linked to a variety of clubs, including Inter Milan, but it now seems possible that Paulinho could be set for a return to his homeland.
Cruzeiro director Alexandre Mattos has confirmed that the club are trying to sign the Spurs midfielder, however the deal is couched in Spurs loaning the player to begin with.
Whether Spurs are open to such a loan deal remains the sticking point, with Tottenham thought to favour a sale if money is on the table in January.
Mattos told Radio Itatiaia:
Paulinho is a loan deal that can happen… although Tottenham have been unclear whether they will be willing to loan the player. However if Paulinho does have possibility to leave [White Hart Lane], he will first think of Cruzeiro].
Tottenham are said to want 12 million pounds for Paulinho.
