Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet gets a new agent
Belgian news outlet DH have reported on Wednesday that Liverpool goalie Simon Mignolet has made a significant switch.
Mignolet has split from agent Guy Vandersmissen to partner with Didier Frenay and the Star Factory company.
There appears to be just one reasonable explanation for the change: Mignolet is planning to leave Liverpool in the summer.
That will come as no great shock to Liverpool’s fans, who have seen Jurgen Klopp make Loris Karius the number at Anfield in recent months.
Where will Mignolet go after Liverpool?
DH offer a few options for Mignolet’s next career move.
One option is to stay in the Premier League, although no specific clubs were named as possible suitors.
As for interest from Italy, Napoli could be ready to sign Mignolet in the off-season.
Pepe Reina is well-known to be leaving Napoli when the season closes.
Finally, Bundesliga powerhouse Borussia Dortmund are also named as a potential destination for Mignolet.
Simon Mignolet reaction after Porto
Liverpool progressed to the Champions League quarterfinals on Tuesday night.
Porto scored a goalless draw at Anfield, after Liverpool won 5-0 in Portugal.
After the Porto game, Mignolet posted an eye-catching update on social media.
March 6 was the goalie’s birthday. Mignolet turned 30.
But it doesn’t seem like the keeper enjoyed his special day if his Instagram update is anything to go by. He wrote:
Thanks for the more than 54000 Reds who turned up for my Birthday party tonight. Not happy with my seat but double happy for the lads to get us qualified!
