Christian Benteke’s agent denies claims Man United have declared an interest in his client [Sport Witness]

The good people at Sport Witness have gone the extra mile on Wednesday, as they have picked up the phone and spoken to Christian Benteke’s agent about reported links to Manchester United.

The Benteke to United story took off earlier on Wednesday, after the Aston Villa striker ‘favourited’ a tweet. As is the way of modern football, that ‘favourite’ soon went viral.

Benteke engaged with a tweet from a Manchester United fan saying that he is “exactly what we need, just needs to be backup to Rooney”.

Interestingly, the tweet didn’t even tag Christian Benteke, which lead some to believe the Villa forward’s interaction on the social media site was somehow more revealing of a possible deal.

According to Sport Witness, they have since spoken to Benteke’s agent, Kismet Eris, who denied claims Man United have declared an interest in his client. He said such stories were “not true at all”.

The 24 year old Belgian star has also been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, but his £32.5m release clause has seemingly scared off Brendan Rodgers somewhat.
