Chelsea boss Tuchel ‘interested’ in Borussia Monchengladbach’s Jonas Hofmann

Recent reports stemming from Germany have credited Chelsea with an interest in Borussia Monchengladbach’s Jonas Hofmann.
Who is Jonas Hofmann?
Hofmann began his senior career with Borussia Dortmund, after spending much of his youth with Hoffenheim.
And the 28-year-old subsequently went on to notch 59 appearances across all competitions for BVB.
Hofmann never really cemented himself as a regular at Signal Iduna Park, though, and was loaned out to Mainz in 2014/15 as a result.
This was followed by a permanent departure from Dortmund in 2016, when Hofmann linked up with Borussia Monchengladbach.
And the two-time capped German international has since gone on to feature 141 times across all competitions for Gladbach, scoring 20 and assisting 30 in the process.
It is the current campaign, though, which has proven Hofmann’s most impressive.
In just 15 Bundesliga outings, he has found the net four times, as well as providing eight assists.

And such fine form has now seemingly piqued the interest of a top Premier League side.
According to Simon Phillips, citing German outlet Bild, new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is interested in Hofmann, with contact already believed to have been made between the pair:

No potential fee is mentioned, but regardless of price, do Chelsea really need another winger?
In Tuchel’s current setup, all of Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mason Mount are largely competing for just two spots.
Hudson-Odoi has also played in a right-wing-back role under the German, but Reece James is more than capable of doing a job there, too.
And whilst Tuchel will of course want to put his own mark on his Chelsea squad in the summer, should signing another winger really be a priority?
