Chelsea have made Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong a priority signing this summer, according to Football Insider.
The Blues showed interest in the Dutch midfielder over the summer but were unable to complete a move after the 25-year-old turned down offers to move away from Spain.
It is understood that Chelsea remain interested in signing De Jong this summer, with owner Todd Boehly a huge admirer of the midfielder.
Chelsea have spent over £600m in the previous two transfer windows, setting records for most money spent by a single club in both a summer and winter window.
However, their midfield is still fairly weak compared to some other top teams.
Jorginho has left for London rivals Arsenal and N’Golo Kante is now past his best.
But whilst De Jong would be a good fit, Chelsea are likely to face competition for him from Manchester United.
The Red Devils were heavily linked last summer but instead brought in Christian Eriksen on a free. And whilst the Dane was great before his injury, he is not really a long-term option.
Erik ten Hag is also a big fan of De Jong from their time at Ajax together, with a reunion of Lisandro Martinez, Antony and Ten Hag potentially appealing to the now Barcelona man.
