One player brought up in the report from the Telegraph is Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo agreed to terminate his Manchester United contract on Tuesday after criticising the club in an explosive interview.
This led to links between the now free-agent and Chelsea.
Chelsea’s Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital owners discussed the possibility of signing Ronaldo in the summer with former head coach Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel was against the move, but he has since been replaced by Graham Potter and there was an expectation that the former Brighton boss would not have as much sway as the more experienced German regarding potential signings.
And whilst this may still be the case, a move for Ronaldo is seemingly not on the cards.
The report adds that Chelsea could look to sign a winger, either in January or next summer, but much of their focus will be on strengthening the midfield and defence.
Both Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice are of interest to the west Londoners, but they are not currently in pole position for either man.
Elsewhere, Chelsea are expected to make a move to try to sign RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol and will look at their goalkeeping options.
