Arsenal 0 – Chelsea 3

Premier League champions Chelsea showed their class and grabbed a small measure of revenge on Arsenal for their FA Cup final defeat, in Beijing on Saturday.

Goals from Willian and Michy Batshuayi (2) did the damage for Chelsea in what was a fine win for Antonio Conte’s side.

The one downside was a serious head injury to Pedro, who clashed with Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina.

Pedro to be Chelsea’s masked man

Immediately after the Beijing friendly, Pedro posted that he was ok on social media.

On Sunday, Chelsea confirmed that Pedro would be leaving the pre-season tour due to his injury for treatment in England.

And, today, Antonio Conte said Pedro’s injury was more serious than he thought, the Spanish forward has multiple fractures but with a mask he should train in 10 days.

Chelsea fans react to Pedro mask news

Chelsea have a long history of using masks to rush players back from injuries.

Perhaps this should be seen as a positive for the club that they have advanced medical services.

Or, it is testament to the bravery of many of their players.

The list of recent players to wear a mask at Chelsea includes: Petr Cech, Cesar Azpilicueta, John Terry, Gary Cahill, Paolo Ferreira, Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas, Ramires, Fernando Torres, Diego Costa and Demba Ba.
