Chelsea transfer update: Emerson to Juventus collapses / Rudiger deciding between ‘at least’ five clubs

With less than 10 hours of the transfer window remaining, a number of stars look set for the Chelsea exit door.

Emerson deal collapses

The first of the players in question looked set to be Emerson Palmieri, who has fallen very much down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian joined the Blues back in January of 2018, departing AS Roma.

Since moving to England, though, Emerson has found regular game-time hard to come by.

The left-back generally sees time on the pitch in cup competitions, but in the Premier League, just this season for example, Emerson is actually yet to make a Chelsea matchday squad.

With Ben Chilwell now signed and fit, Emerson is arguably the Londoners’ 4th-choice left-back, behind all of the English international, Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta.

News over the last 24 hours that the defender was expected to join Juventus on loan for the rest of the campaign therefore didn’t come as too much of a surprise.

The deal was also expected to include an option to buy. However, a further update concerning Emerson on Monday confirms that his move to Juve has since collapsed:

Rudiger has options

Whilst Emerson’s move now appears off, though, one player who could still potentially depart Stamford Bridge today is Antonio Rudiger.

Like Emerson, Rudiger has found minutes hard to come by this season, with the stopper actually yet to feature for Chelsea in any competition.

This has led to speculation that the German could be shipped out, with the likes of PSG, Tottenham and AC Milan all previously linked.

And now, on deadline day, it is claimed that Rudiger is deciding between offers from at least five clubs.

Spurs are named as one of the outfits continuing to express an interest, but Goal claim that Chelsea may block a move to Jose Mourinho’s side due to their rival status:

Sky Sports News, meanwhile, have also provided an update on Rudiger on Monday. They too suggest that Chelsea ideally do not want to sell to a direct rival.

Rudiger is not the only Chelsea centre-back potentially set to be on the move today, though, with Malang Sarr expected to join FC Porto on loan:
