Chelsea take the lead to sign Brazilian attacker

Chelsea close in on Richarlison

Chelsea’s first team squad might be dominated by Spaniards these days, but there remain a fair few prominent Brazilians.

The likes of Dabid Luiz and Willian were key parts of Chelsea’s Premier League title winning squad last season.

And, Oscar established himself as a fans favourite before a lucrative move to China in the January transfer window.

Chelsea closing in on another Brazilian

Reports over the weekend, suggest Chelsea are closing in on another player from the biggest country in South America: Fluminense attacker Richarlison.

Sky Sport Italia transfer guru Gianluca di Marzio reports that after signing Alvaro Morata, Chelsea continue to look to strengthen their frontline.

Chelsea are now in pole position to sign Fluminense attacker Richarlison.

Chelsea beat off Italian competition

Three Italian clubs have previously been linked with Richarlison: AC Milan, Inter Milan and Sampdoria.

However, Di Marzio reports that Richarlison is “now getting closer to a move to” Chelsea.

Chelsea also signed Kenedy from Fluminense, and the Blues have both good scouting and networks in Brazil, unlike other Premier League sides.

Richarlison in great form

Richarlison has been in great form of late, scoring four goals in his past five matches.

The 20-year-old attacker usually plays in a left wide forward role and wears the eye catching number 70.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has hinted that there will be more signings in the coming weeks, with Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata signed already.

The likes of Nemanja Matic and Diego Costa are expected to leave Chelsea in the coming days, for Manchester United and Atletico Madrid respectively.

Whether Richarlison gets a first team spot remains to be seen, with the most likely scenario that he joins and is immediately sent out on loan.
