Chelsea snap up highly-regarded Burton goalkeeper Sharman-Lowe

As confirmed online this afternoon, Premier League giants Chelsea have sealed a deal for Burton Albion starlet Teddy Sharman-Lowe.

Brewers prodigy

Sharman-Lowe, 17, is a product of Burton’s academy.

Recent seasons have seen the gifted shot-stopper star at youth level, eventually resulting in a call-up to England’s U17 setup this past February.

And such stellar exploits have certainly not gone unnoticed amongst the senior staff at Burton, either.

Incredibly, despite his tender years, Sharman-Lowe has established himself as first-choice between the posts for the Brewers’ first-team during pre-season this summer.

Blues switch

As such, news that some of England’s biggest clubs had begun to express a keen interest in the youngster of late had come as little surprise.

And, as outlined above, one such outfit have today swooped in decisive fashion for his signature.

In a post across social media a short time ago, Burton confirmed that Sharman-Lowe has put pen-to-paper on a deal with Chelsea.

The move comes for an undisclosed fee, with the English talent set to remain at the Pirelli Stadium on loan this coming season:

Speaking on the back of his Stamford Bridge switch being made official, Sharman-Lowe had the following to say:

‘It’s brilliant and it has all happened so fast. Burton have developed me so well and now it’s another new beginning and, hopefully, I can develop further with Chelsea.’

‘I’m excited to be joining such a great club, especially as they are known for bringing on young players.’

‘It has all happened in a flash, from playing for the first team in pre-season, and then joining a top four Premier League contender.’

‘I want to say a massive thank you to all the first team staff, Jake Buxton and the players and to Nigel Clough, Dan Robinson, Paul Reynolds, Sam Rose and all the Academy staff for all their help and support.’

‘I just want to continue training with that support, develop as a player, get a few games and see how it pans out.’
