According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea are seriously keen on signing Brentford striker Ivan Toney this summer.
No potential fee is mentioned in the report, but with Toney in fine form and under contract until the summer of 2025, Brentford are expected to be able to demand a high sum for the goalscorer.
Toney is in the midst of his best-ever season in the Premier League. He has so far scored 20 goals and provided four assists in 33 Premier League appearances, whilst also netting one and assisting one in two League Cup outings.
Compare that form to Chelsea’s current striking options and it is easy to see why the Blues are keen on the 27-year-old.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has found the net just once in his 15 PL outings for the west Londoners this campaign.
Kai Havertz, meanwhile, has been Chelsea’s main striker in 2022/23, yet he has scored just seven goals in 31 Premier League outings.
