The future of Alexandre Pato increasingly looks likely to be in England and as more reports emerge from Brazil it looks like the destination of the former AC Milan attacker is Chelsea.
Earlier today, ESPN Brazil reported that Chelsea are very close to signing Pato and that his agent is in London negotiating with the Premier League side.
On Thursday afternoon, Brazilian portal Lance confirms Chelsea are negotiating with Cortinthians and this seems the most likely destination for Pato.
Kia Joorabchian, most famous for being Carlos Tevez’s agent, is negotiating between Corinthians and Chelsea.
Joorabchian has links with Chelsea and also goes way back with Corinthians as well.
Corinthians hope to sell Pato to Chelsea for around 15 million euros.
Pato has been heavily linked with a move to England after performing well for Sao Paulo, on loan from Corinthians, over the past year.
The Brazilian international has not travelled with Corinthians on their pre-season tour of the USA and both the player and club are hopeful of a swift move to Chelsea.
Pato scored 10 goals in 33 appearances for Sao Paulo in 2015 and whilst he is a lot less injury prone than he used to be this still feels like a huge gamble from Chelsea.
Considering what a flop Radamel Falcao has been and that Pedro has been hugely disappointing in recent weeks, Chelsea fans will be hoping Pato does not turn out to be another poor signing.
