Chelsea are closing in on a £4million deal for Reading centre back Michael Hector, according to Sky Sports.
The highly rated 23-year-old who has had nine spells out on loan since he joined Reading as a 16-year-old was rumoured to be a target for Crystal Palace, but could now be set to move to the Premier League champions before the transfer window closes in a couple of hours.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with Everton centre-back John Stones throughout the summer but it appears that they have turned their attention elsewhere following three unsuccessful bids for the England international.
Jose Mourinho has already signed one defender today after Papy Djilobodji completed a move to Stamford Bridge from Nantes, and it looks like the Blues may be close to adding one more defender before the deadline passes.
I wonder what Chelsea fans will make out of all this?
