Chelsea close in on Alvaro Morata
Chelsea look to have found their new striker!
For so long the Blues were linked with Romelu Lukaku but missed out on the big Belgian striker after Manchester United hijacked the move.
Immediately after Manchester United confirmed the signing of Lukaku, Chelsea were heavily linked with Alvaro Morata.
Similarly, for so long, Manchester United were close to signing Morata but failed to agree a fee with Real Madrid.
Di Marzio confirms Morata
In recent days, Chelsea have been heavily linked with a number of strikers.
These have included Alvaro Morata, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Andrea Belotti and even Christian Benteke.
On Wednesday afternoon, Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed that Chelsea’s move for Alvaro Morata is close.
Earlier this week, Morata was heavily linked with AC Milan, but it appears they cannot afford Real Madrid’s asking price.

Antonio Conte is a big fan of Alvaro Morata
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been a fan of Alvaro Morata for many years now.
Conte bought Morata to Juventus from Real Madrid, before the Chelsea boss then took over as Italy coach.
Morata was a success at Juventus and then moved back to Real Madrid with Los Blancos activating his buyout clause.
The Spanish striker scored 15 goals in 26 La Liga appearances last season.
Morata to replace Diego Costa
Morata was keen on moving this summer, as he is keen to secure a spot in Spain’s World Cup squad.
According to Spanish reports, Morata knew he fared very little chance of playing for Real Madrid this coming season, due to the presence of the BBC.
And, if one of the Real Madrid trio were injured, Los Blancos would likely bring in Isco, rather than Morata.
Morata looks like the clear replacement for Diego Costa, who is pushing for a move to Atletico Madrid.
Di Marzio adds that Real Madrid will use the money from Morata to try and entice Kylian Mbappe from Monaco.
