Caglar Soyunc presses Freiburg to let him join Arsenal

Arsenal’s defensive rebuild

Last season Arsenal’s defence wasn’t great.

Arsenal finished the season in sixth place, while the conceded 51 goals in 38 games.

Unai Emery has now replaced Arsene Wenger, and the new manager has already set about rebuilding the Gunners backline.

Stephan Lichtsteiner has joined, while Sokratis Papastathopoulos is on his way.

Frieburg defender Caglar Soyuncu has also been linked with an Arsenal move, and he’s now opened up about what’s going on.

Caglar Soyunc presses Freiburg

According to a Turkish source called Gones, Caglar Soyuncu has made it clear he wants to join the Gunners:

Arsenal are an option & I want to go there. But I have 3 more years on my current contract and everything depends on the club [Freiburg].

I received offers from teams in Turkey. I would not be able to give you a name, but I rejected them. I do not think about playing in Turkey at the moment.

I want to continue my career in Europe…I want to play for the biggest clubs.

Caglar Soyuncu is a 22-year-old Turkish international. Soyuncu can either play at right-back or centre-half.

Soyuncu is under contract with Frieburg until 2021, while last season he made 30 appearances for his club in all competitions.

It’s believed Arsenal may have to spend £30 million to sign Caglar Soyuncu this summer.
