Burnley’s Tottenham deal for Georges-Kevin Nkoudou

Burnley & Tottenham

Seventh placed Burnley are poised to land Georges-Kevin Nkoudou from Tottenham this January.

That’s according to French newspaper L’Equipe on Tuesday morning.

Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League after 22 rounds of the season.

Interestingly, L’Equipe note that Daniel Levy refused to insert an option to buy into the loan agreement.

Georges Kevin-N’Koudou at Spurs

Tottenham signed Georges-Kevin Nkoudou in the summer of 2016.

When he moved to north London from Marseille, Nkoudou agreed a deal until 2021.

But Nkoudou has failed to cut it for Mauricio Pochettino. He’s never been able to lock down a first team slot at Spurs, and it’s doubtful whether he’ll ever reach his potential with Tottenham.

This season Nkoudou has only made one sub appearance in the Premier League.

On loan to Turf Moor

According to L’Equipe, Burnley are set to sign Georges-Kevin Nkoudou on loan until the end of the season.

N’Koudou could plug the gap in Burnley’s squad left by the injury to Robbie Brady.

Brady has been been ruled out of action for an extended period following a bad injury at Leicester.

The Irish midfielder has since had knee surgery which is likely to sideline him for the rest of the season

James Tarkowski signs on

Last week Burnley announced that centre-half James Tarkowski has signed a new agreement with the Clarets.

Tarkowski has become one of the most impressive players in the Premier League this season.

Alongside Ben Mee, Burnley haven’t looked short at the back having sold Michael Keane to Everton last summer.

Tarkowski has now committed his future to Burnley until 2022. According to reports the defender earns £40,000 a week.
