Brighton reportedly want to take Man United’s Daniel James on loan

A recent report in the English press has named Brighton as the latest side to express an interest in Manchester United’s Daniel James.

James’ Man United stint

The Welshman, of course, joined the Red Devils from Swansea City in the summer of 2019.

James had zero top-flight experience to his name at the time, but was still handed a regular starting berth by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the early months of the season.

And, to his credit, the wide-man put in some solid performances for the Manchester powerhouse.

The second half of 2019/20, however, saw James’ form take something of a dip, with Mason Greenwood now United’s undisputed first-choice right-winger.

And the new campaign has seen James once again struggle for minutes.

In the league, the 23-year-old has featured just three times, failing to complete 90 minutes once.

James has also garnered just 34 minutes of Champions League football, along with a single League Cup appearance, which also saw him fail to see out proceedings.

Brighton eyeing Dan James

As a result, with the January transfer window fast approaching, speculation has begun to mount surrounding the winger.

Leeds have previously been tipped to swoop for James.

And now, this weekend has seen another Premier League outfit linked with the former Swansea man.

As outlined above, the side in question are Brighton & Hove Albion.

According to the Sun, Graham Potter, who worked with James whilst at Swansea, will ask Manchester United about taking the explosive winger on loan, as the Seagulls step up their survival fight.

Brighton are dangerously close to the Premier League’s bottom three as things stand, having won just two league games all season.
