Brighton & Benfica linked with Almeria striker Darwin Nunez/Seagulls insist Ben White not for sale

A couple of transfer updates surrounding Brighton have emerged online.

Brighton eyeing Nunez

The first rumour concerns a potential incoming at the Amex.

Brighton have, on Wednesday, been linked with a move for Darwin Nunez.

Nunez, a 21-year-old striker, is currently plying his trade in Spain’s second division with UD Almeria.

Almeria signed Nunez from his home country of Uruguay just last summer for around €4m.

The youngster enjoyed a solid debut campaign in Spain, netting 16 and assisting two in 30 league outings, as Almeria narrowly missed out on promotion to La Liga.

Nunez is currently contracted to Almeria until the summer of 2024.

But, as mentioned above, the hitman is already garnering interest from elsewhere in Europe.

As per Sky Sports News, both Brighton and Portuguese powerhouse Benfica are interested in signing Nunez.

Significantly, it’s also worth noting that, as per SSN, the Seagulls have a strong relationship with Almeria, having previously signed Leonardo Ulloa and Tomer Hemed from the Spanish outfit.

No potential fee is mentioned, but, given the fact that Almeria are in the Spanish second division and only signed the attacker for around €4m, it is hard to imagine that Brighton would be forced to stump up a huge sum to secure Nunez’s signature.

Brighton will not sell White

The second piece of transfer news regarding Brighton to have come to light on Wednesday concerns Ben White.

White, of course, recently returned to the Amex after enjoying a sensational loan spell with Leeds United, who secured promotion to the Premier League in 2019/20.

With the stopper having played such a key role in their promotion, Leeds have since unsurprisingly been keen to secure White’s services on a permanent basis, with the Yorkshire outfit having reportedly seen a £22m bid rejected earlier this month, and a fresh £25m bid also believed to have been turned down on Wednesday.

And, though it was recently claimed that White is Leeds’ number one target this summer, a deal for the centre-back now looks all but dead in the water.

As per the Mirror’s David Anderson, Leeds’ attempts to sign White have hit a brick wall, as Brighton continue to insist that he is not for sale:
