Benfica announce they have agreed to sell Ruben Dias to Man City for €68m

Man City hammered

Manchester City had a decent start to the 2020/21 campaign, seeing off an in-form Wolves side.

As a result, they probably felt pretty confident about getting something from their latest outing, versus Leicester.

However, the Sky Blues would collapse in rather spectacular fashion vs the Foxes.

Riyad Mahrez fired the home side into the lead inside four minutes.

Jamie Vardy, however, stepped up to convert his first of the day just before the break after being pulled down in the City box by Kyle Walker.

The Manchester powerhouse then fell apart in the second 45, shipping another four goals, two of which came from the penalty spot.

Dias to Man City

Sunday’s clash eventually drew to a close with the scoreline at 5-2, the first time in history that a Pep Guardiola-led side has conceded 5 goals.

This, carrying on from City’s defensive issues last season, of course suggests that they need to improve their backline.

And, less than 24 hours after they were put to the sword by Leicester, news of a new centre-back joining the Citizens has been confirmed.

An image began to do the rounds on social media late on Sunday night, which suggested that Benfica had confirmed the sale of Ruben Dias to Man City for an initial fee of €68m:

And such claims have since been backed by the reliable Fabrizio Romano, who has also confirmed that Nicolas Otamendi will be joining Benfica for €15m:
