Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamidžić has, on Friday, spoken out over speculation linking Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo with a shock move to the club.

For those not aware, rumours pointing towards a potential move to Bavaria for Ronaldo first came to the fore a little over 24 hours ago.

This came amid the suggestion that those in a position of power at the Allianz Arena had identified the 5-time Ballon d'Or winner as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Prolific hitman Lewandowski is of course widely expected to close the Bayern chapter of his career this summer, eyeing a move to Spain with Xavi Hernandez's Barcelona.

The German champions have therefore been left with little choice but to seek out a replacement for the club's long-time star man.

It was, in turn, reported in the Spanish media that Ronaldo had been earmarked as the ideal addition on the part of the powers that be in Bavaria, with the veteran attacker himself too keen on the prospect, amid an underwhelming opening to the summer transfer window on the red half of Manchester.

Speaking to the media on Friday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of a potential CR7 swoop was put to the aforementioned Salihamidžić.

The Bayern director, however, whilst full of praise for the Portuguese, was quick to shut down links between the two parties.
