Barcelona transfer news: Messi return latest, Tielemans blow & more

Here is all the latest Barcelona transfer news.

First up, according to Spanish outlet El Nacional, Argentina and PSG superstar Lionel Messi’s return to Barcelona becomes more distant as the days go by, with the club instead prioritising the signing of Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta was hell-bent on bringing Messi back to Camp Nou, but has been advised by others in the administration to go for Silva instead of the ageing Argentinian star.

Next, as per Calcio Mercato, Barcelona aren’t hopeful of signing Leicester City and Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans next summer as they feel he has decided to join Arsenal.

Tielemans contract expires at the end of the season, and Barcelona see him as the perfect midfielder for manager Xavi’s system, however, they think they will miss out on him.

Elsewhere, according to El Nacional, Barcelona manager Xavi wants Chelsea left-back and former Barca youth product Marc Cucurella to return to Camp Nou.

Barcelona are looking to sign a new left-back with Jordi Alba likely to leave the club and Marcos Alonso also not performing according to expectations.

Finally, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have shortlisted Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard, Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot, and Villarreal’s Juan Foyth to bolster the right-back spot in the winter transfer window.
