Barcelona ‘studying’ the signing of Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin/Gunners considering second Villa offer for Martinez

Updates on some potential departures at Arsenal have emerged online on Wednesday.

Barcelona eyeing Bellerin

The first update surrounds the potential exit of Hector Bellerin.

The Spaniard, who has three years left on his current contract, has been on Arsenal’s books since 2011.

During that time, the right-back has notched just over 200 appearances for the Gunners’ senior side, scoring eight and assisting 25 along the way.

In recent weeks, though, the 25-year-old has been attracting attention from some top European outfits.

First, it was reported at the beginning of the month that PSG had approached Arsenal over Bellerin, with negotiations having ensued.

It was added that the north Londoners would prefer to maintain the pacey full-back’s services this summer, but would be open to a sale for the right price.

Now, though, a report from Spain has linked Bellerin with a return to his former club, FC Barcelona.

As per Albert Rogé of Spanish outlet Sport, Barca are ‘studying’ the signing of Bellerin, following a meeting with Arsenal.

In terms of a potential fee, the report from Sport claims that Bellerin would likely set the Blaugrana back somewhere in the region of €20-25 million.

Considering Bellerin’s age, importance to Arsenal and the length of his contract, however, such a fee appears fairly low.

Arsenal considering Martinez offer

Elsewhere on the Arsenal front, Aston Villa are said to have lodged a second bid for Emiliano Martinez.

The Argentine’s future has, of course, been called into doubt of late, after he claimed that he is only willing to stay at the Emirates if guaranteed a regular spot between the sticks next season.

It was then reported at the end of August that the Gunners were willing to cash in on Martinez, with a price-tag of around £20m believed to have been placed on the 27-year-old’s head.

Villa’s latest bid, though, according to Goal, only amounted to a sum slightly in excess of £15m.

Nevertheless, despite the proposal having fallen short of Arsenal’s valuation, it is claimed that the capital giants are ‘mulling over’ the bid, which was submitted earlier this week.
