“Why isn’t Yerry Mina playing in Europe?!”
For some time now, there have been major questions surrounding Colombia central defender Yerry Mina.
A key part of the Palmeiras side that won the Brazilian top flight in 2016 (along with Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus), Mina has been tipped for a major European move.
Mina was central to Palmeiras’ title success, and was named the best defender in Brazil last season.
Having played nine times for the Colombia national team, Mina was expected to be a big name in this summer’s transfer window.
Has Yerry Mina already signed for Barcelona?
Last week, Yerry Mina was linked with a move to Inter Milan.
However, his agent Felipe Russo has been quoted by Inter Milan websites denying a move to the Nerazzurri is possible.
Russo said: “Now he stays in Brazil. And then in 2018 he will reach the Spanish League. Everything is almost closed. His dream has always been to play with Barca. Why should he break his hopes when it comes to, in my view, the best technical project for him? He will stay another year at Palmeiras because he is doing well and wants to go to the World Cup. For me there is zero chance that things will change.”
Will Mina arrive at Barcelona in January 2018 or after the World Cup?
If Russo’s comments are correct, it is unclear when Yerri Mina will arrive available to play for Barcelona.
Perhaps in January 2018, or this time next year, once the 2018 World Cup has concluded.
The confusion is also caused by Palmeiras, who have claimed that Mina will leave for Barcelona in July 2018.
So far, Barcelona have not announced officially that Mina has signed, despite the fact Palmeiras released a statement in February 2017.
