Could Neymar actually sign for PSG this summer?
Slowly, slowly, on a day by day basis, Neymar’s enormous move to PSG moves ever closer to possibly happening.
When it was first mentioned that Neymar was “uncomfortable” at Barcelona, earlier this week, these rumours were immediately dismissed.
On Wednesday came a huge report from Globoesporte, one of the best sources of transfer news in Brazil, and they revealed Neymar has told his close friends that he will join PSG this summer.
Barcelona know Neymar is uncomfortable
Incredibly, whilst earlier this week all the noises coming out of Barcelona were that there was no way Neymar was leaving, today’s updates are a lot more worrying if you are a fan of the La Liga giants.
No longer are Barcelona coming out with statements claiming the Brazilian superstar will for sure stay, they know they have a problem on their hands.
Sport reveal on Thursday that Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu talked to Neymar on the club’s flight to the USA.
Bartomeu meets Neymar
Neymar did not look comfortable on the plane, was one of the last to arrive on the flight, and only spoke to Douglas, his fellow Brazilian, according to reports.
After meeting Neymar’s dad on Wednesday morning, Bartomeu sat with Neymar on the plane to the USA.
It is unknown how that meeting went but Bartomeu now understands that Barcelona have a serious Neymar “problem,” according to Sport.
What are Neymar’s problems?
Neymar’s number one issue seems to be Leo Messi’s recent contract renewal. As has been stated this week, those close to the Brazilian feel he will never be considered “number 1” whilst he plays alongside the Argentine at club level.
Sport also cite the lack of Brazilians in the Barcelona changing room and the fact the Catalans have barely strengthened this summer, besides bringing in right back Nelson Semedo.
PSG are offering an incredible contract and Neymar will be the leader and star of the Ligue 1 side.
And, Barcelona are fully aware that Messi’s role at the club will not change, meaning they don’t have a huge amount of leverage with Neymar.
Meanwhile, PSG coach Unai Emery has talked up signing a world class star after the pre-season draw with Roma.
What might have started as a revenge plot from PSG to unsettle Neymar, after the Marco Verratti rumours to Barcelona, has now escalated significantly…
