According to multiple sources in the Spanish media this evening, Barcelona will announce the signing of Gerard Deulofeu from Everton in the coming hours.
Camp Nou return
The move, set to cost the Blaugrana 12 million Euro, marks a return to Barcelona for Deulofeu, who joined Everton on a permanent deal in 2015 following a loan spell at Goodison Park.
However, the Spaniard’s Toffees venture to not go according to plan, with Deulofeu struggling to hold down a starting spot with the Merseyside club, resulting in another loan deal to Italian giants AC Milan this past January.
New lease of life
It was at the San Siro where Deulofeu rediscovered the form that had seen the youngster tipped for greatness during his early days in Catalunya, with a number of scintillating performances along the Milanese side’s wings resulting in a recall to the Spanish national setup and, allegedly, a return to his former employers.
Though Everton will no doubt be disappointed that their 6 million Euro move for Deulofeu didn’t work out in the long run, Ronald Koeman’s side will be pleased with their soon-to-be tidy profit on the 23-year-old, with Barca set to pay the full 12 million Euro buyback clause that had been included in the Spaniard’s contract at Goodison.
