Crystal Palace & Tottenham
On the same day that Tottenham appear to be closing in on PSG full-back Serge Aurier, one defender is looking certain to leave Spurs this summer.
That’s Austrian international Kevin Wimmer, who has been in the shop window for several weeks.
Wimmer, 24, has been unable to secure a starting berth for Tottenham in the last two seasons.
He join Spurs from FC Koln back in 2015, however it’s becoming increasingly likely Wimmer exits the club in the next ten days.
According to the Daily Mail on Tuesday, Crystal Palace are closing in on a 15 million pound bid for Wimmer. Readers are told:
The 24-year-old Wimmer is valued close to £20million by Tottenham, although they are likely to sell for an initial £15m plus add-ons.
Bad news for Liverpool
Should Crystal Palace land Wimmer, Liverpool have a problem.
Mamadou Sakho remains on the Reds books, after the French centre-half played for Palace on loan last season.
The Eagles have been keen on bringing Sakho back to Selhurst Park, however Liverpool have been demanding 30 million pounds for the former PSG star.
With Palace baulking at that price, Wimmer has emerged as an alternative.
Currently it’s unclear where Sakho is going, but it’s obvious he’s not wanted at Liverpool this season.
Bad news for West Brom
Another team who will lose out if Wimmer joins Crystal Palace are West Brom.
That’s after the Baggies were thought to be closing in on the Tottenham defender.
At the same time, rumours persist that Man City want to sign West Brom centre-half Jonny Evans.
