Anthony Martial & Arsenal
One of the more outlandish stories in the tabloid on Sunday is the claim Arsenal could sign Anthony Martial from Man United.
The rumour has arisen as Martial was omitted from the latest French squad.
The rejection comes as quite a surprise with the French forward hitting some impressive form during the start of the new season.
Martial has so far chalked up five goals and five assists across all competitions this season.
The forward especially impressed in United’s 4-1 over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League. Martial provided three assists and was named Man of the Match.

Back in the summer, the rumours were that Martial could join Tottenham.
That’s after Martial had a disappointing first season under Jose Mourinho.
Having broken onto the scene with a stellar debut campaign at Old Trafford in 2015-16, Martial’s form took a significant dip last season. The forward only scored eight goals in all competitions for United last season.
But Martial appears to have turned his form around recently. Indeed, he’s just won the club’s September player of the month award.
Why would he leave Man United?
But why would Martial, who seems to have rediscovered his form, leave Man United anytime soon?
The Mirror on Sunday offer two main reasons, beginning with Arsenal’s need to replace Alexis Sanchez:
Arsene Wenger is plotting a move for Anthony Martial next summer as he considers potential replacements for Alexis Sanchez.
It’s highly likely that Sanchez leaves the Gunners for free in the summer when his contract expires. PSG and Man City are at the front of the queue for his signature.
But, returning to Martial, the Mirror believe Arsenal could also exploit problems with Martial’s position at Old Trafford. It’s claimed the French star isn’t happy about playing on the left wing:
The Manchester United forward, 21, has been largely limited to appearances from the substitutes’ bench under Jose Mourinho and rarely gets a chance to play through the middle.
That has given Wenger a belief that Martial might be open to a switch south and he will make his move if he is encouraged to do so.
Would Wenger really play Martial through the middle?
How would that work with Alexandre Lacazette presumably playing at centre-forward?
