He’s been out of football for barely a week, but already former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is being tipped with a return to the Premier League.
One of the top stories in the British press on Sunday centres on the future of Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood.
The former Tottenham interim manager is today under the gun, as the Telegraph report that Sherwood could be axed from his post should the Clarets fail to pick up points in their next two Premier League matches against Chelsea and Swansea.
With just one win in their opening eight matches of the new season, Villa are currently third bottom of the league.
Put another way, Sherwood has lost six of the last seven Premier League games.
With Sherwood now tipped to be the next Premier League manager to walk the plank, the Sun have today wondered whether Brendan Rodgers could be set to take over the reigns at Villa Park.
The Sun believe that the Northern Irishman “fits the bill” for Villa, but one has to speculate whether Rodgers would be interested in taking over the difficult post in the Midlands.
For the record, Tim Sherwood led Aston Villa to the FA Cup final last season.
