Madrid are hoping to finally conclude a deal on Tuesday, following extensive talks with Monaco.
The young French midfielder is coming off the back of a sensational season in Ligue 1 and has even broken into the French national team.
It is understood that, today, intense negotiations took place between the two clubs.
Madrid are expected to pay around €80M, which is Monaco's asking price.
The midfielder had also been linked to Liverpool but made it clear that he only wants to join Los Blancos.
Now, the deal is just a "matter of time", and is expected to be closed tomorrow.
