Nathan set to return to Brazil…
On Saturday, reliable Brazilian portal Globoesprte reveal that Atletico Mineiro and Chelsea are close to agreeing a loan move for Nathan.
The 22-year-old midfielder has belonged to Chelsea since 2015 and has undergone the route many young players do at Stamford Bridge.
Nathan was effectively brought by Chelsea to be a loan player and perhaps prove himself first-team material for the Blues.
This has rarely happened in recent years, with only Thibaut Courtois breaking through via the loan route.
A whole host of other current superstars such as Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Mo Salah struggled in this manner.
Nathan expected in Belo Horizonte this week!
Nathan spent time at Vitesse Arnhem, Amiens and Belenenses during his time with Chelsea.
Globoesporte reveal that Nathan will be loaned out by Chelsea for a full season, to Atletico Mineiro.
The Brazilian side will pay Nathan’s salary during his time at the club.
Atletico Mineiro’s football director, Alexandre Gallo, is in Europe, where he has been in negotiations.
Second time lucky for Atletico Mineiro
Nathan also talked to Chelsea about being released and playing for Atletico Mineiro on loan.
The midfielder will arrive in Belo Horizonte on Sunday, with medical tests planned on Monday.
Last January, Atletico Mineiro tried to sign Nathan but a move failed to come to fruition.
Some Chelsea fans have wondered what the point is of loaning out a player who so obviously won’t make the first team at Stamford Bridge.
A week ago, Nathan posted a picture from Cobham, Chelsea’s training ground, on Instagram.
Nathan tagged the photo with the following message: “Those who trust in the Lord will never be confused.”
