At least 10 clubs have reportedly held discussions with Man United-linked David Carmo’s representatives

Man United eyeing David Carmo

It was reported last month that signing a central-defender is now viewed as the priority at Manchester United ahead of the 2021 summer transfer window.

The same report also named RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano as a possible target.

Since, though, another stopper has been linked with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

The player in question is Portuguese outfit Braga’s David Carmo.

The 21-year-old has limited first-team experience to his name, having notched just 27 appearances for Braga’s senior side thus far.

However, he is a left-footed centre back, an area in which the Red Devils could really do with fresh blood.

The above-linked report didn’t mention a potential transfer fee.

But, considering Carmo’s age, and the fact that he is contracted to Braga until 2025, the Portuguese is unlikely to be available on the cheap.

David Carmo a man in demand

As well as a potentially hefty fee, though, Man United also look set to face a fair bit of competition for the young stopper’s signature.

The news comes courtesy of the Athletic’s reliable David Ornstein.

Ornstein has confirmed that United, or any other suitor for that matter, will likely have to beat off a host of rival clubs for Carmo.

This comes amid claims that at least 10 clubs have held discussions with the starlet’s representatives.

One of these ten clubs, meanwhile, are also believed to be one of the Red Devils’ ‘big six’ Premier League rivals:
