Aston Villa move head of Arsenal in Emi Buendia pursuit

Arsenal & Aston Villa in for Buendia

With Martin Odegaard having now returned to Real Madrid after the expiration of his loan, it is quite clear that Arsenal must add another creative midfielder to their ranks,

Given they have no European football next season, there are unlikely to be many better options available than Emi Buendia.

The winger/midfielder was one of Norwich’s brighter sparks amid an altogether disappointing 2019/20 season, which saw them once again relegated to the Championship.

On the back of their demotion, though, Buendia has continued to impress, notching 15 goals and 17 assists in 39 league outings in 2020/21, with Norwich having now secured a swift return to the Premier League.

In turn, it was not at all surprising to see reports this week claiming Arsenal had bid for Buendia.

Aston Villa have also been linked with a move for the midfielder:

However, reports emerging on Saturday morning claimed that the Gunners had made a £35m bid as they looked to pip Villa to Buendia’s signing.

Such news was likely music to the ears of the Gunners faithful.

However, Arsenal fans are likely less pleased with the latest updates concerning Buendia.

As per various sources, Aston Villa have now moved ahead of Arsenal in the pursuit of Buendia:
