Pretty much all signs point to Mohamed Elneny becoming Arsenal’s first signing in the January transfer window, any day now.
Reports in Egypt, Switzerland and in England have all confirmed that Elneny has passed his Arsenal medical and agreed personal terms with the Premier League leaders.
But, as of yet, Arsenal and Arsene Wenger have not announced the official signing of Egypt international Mohamed Elneny.
On Saturday, Arsene Wenger was asked about Arsenal’s pursuit of Mohamed Elneny and pretty much gave the question a straight bat.
But, one journalist, John Cross from the Daily Mirror, seemed pretty certain that despite the words coming out his mouth, Wenger had actually all but confirmed the deal was done.
Wenger said: “No. I have nothing to say because he’s not our player and we have not signed anybody and we are not imminently in a position where we can say we signed anybody. We’re out there to get somebody but at the moment we haven’t signed anybody.”
Wenger at knowing grin, I know it, you know it, not our player yet respectful answer stage when asked on Mohamed Elneny. This week, I reckon

AW: "There is no update on Elneny. I have nothing to say – he is not our player. We are not imminently in a position to say that."
