With three top goalies on their books after the signing of Keylor Navas earlier this summer, Real Madrid have too many keeper’s to keep happy at the moment.
In that regard, the past few weeks have seen paper link raise the possibility that Iker Casillas could leave the Santiago Bernabeu to join the likes of Arsenal, however that suggestion now seems dead in the water according to Spanish daily Marca.
According to their latest reports, rather than allowing Casillas to leave for the Gunners, Real Madrid are prepared to let Diego Lopez – who has been the number one Los Blancos goalie for the past two seasons – walk out the club.
Diego Lopez is immediately hooked up with possible suitors by Marca, with Monaco said to be in pole position for the keeper, while Chelsea are also considered a viable option.
On the Chelsea angle, Marca suggest Lopez would be in demand only if Jose Mourinho decides to sell Petr Cech to PSG. That seems like a stretch.
As for Monaco, the Ligue 1 moneybags are still in the market for a new goalie after efforts to land Victor Valdes fell by the wayside as the keeper is still recovering from injury, so Lopez would be a great fit for the Principality side.
