Mauro Icardi to Arsenal
The Star on Sunday do the same thing every weekend.
Without fail, the red top splash their back page with an eye-catching transfer story that usually ends up being complete garbage.
This weekend the Star play up to Arsenal fans, who are still waiting for a new striker to arrive before the Gunners begin their Premier League campaign agains Liverpool.
While the Reds have signed several players including Sadio Mane, Arsenal’s only significant purchase has been Granit Xhaka.
The Star, however, think Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi could still come to the Emirates Stadium.
Inter name their price
The Star claim Arsenal’s first choice for a new forward is Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette.
But should that deal go awry, Inter’s Mauro Icardi is second choice, and reportedly Inter would cash in on the 23-year-old Argentine if a 50 million pound bid was tabled.
While the Star would like to think Icardi will be a Gooner, the truth is that if he does move from the San Siro, Napoli is his most likely destination.
Napoli are flush with cash having sold Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus for 90 million euros.
