Arsenal tipped to reignite Thiago Almada pursuit in January

Word doing the rounds in the media this weekend suggests that Premier League giants Arsenal remain keen on a move for Thiago Almada.

Velez prodigy

Almada, 19, is widely considered to be one of the most promising talents in his home country of Argentina.

In fact, the technically gifted teen, who is capable of playing either on the wing or in a more central role, has even been dubbed ‘the next Messi’ by members of the Argentine press.

Almada is a product of Velez Sarsfield’s youth academy, and, despite his tender years, broke into the club’s first-team ranks for the first time in 2018.

To this point, the Albiceleste youth international has racked up 46 appearances at senior level for the Primera Division heavyweights.

It was last season, though, which saw Almada’s performances truly begin to turn heads, with the diminutive creator having directly contributed to 8 goals across all competitions.

Emirates bound?

Almada’s impressive form, meanwhile, has, in turn, begun to pique the interest of clubs across Europe.

The summer transfer window saw a host of giants from across the continent named as keen admirers of the Argentine, with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Barcelona having expressed an interest in his signature.

And, as outlined above, one of these three clubs appear primed to reignite their pursuit over the months ahead.

As per a report from TodoFichajes, Arsenal remain hot on Almada’s trail.

In fact, it is claimed that the Gunners are readying a January swoop for the youngster.

This comes amid suggestions that Almada has been personally requested by Mikel Arteta as a reinforcement to his side’s attacking ranks.

Velez, for their part, are said to value the club’s crown jewel at around €20 million.
