German media updates on the Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal transfer
As detailed elsewhere, things are getting rather complicated in Arsenal’s pursuit to sign Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
Essentially, Borussia Dortmund want a replacement before they sanction the departure of Aubameyang and that has brought the likes of Olivier Giroud, Michy Batshuayi and even Fernando Llorente into the mix.
On Tuesday morning, there are two German media updates that are worth throwing into the mix in trying to understand how Arsenal will complete the signing of the Gabon striker.
Where was Aubameyang on Monday?
The first comes from the Ruhr Nachrichten.
Generally reliable German newspaper Bild detailed on Monday that Aubameyang would be announced as an Arsenal player yesterday.
This of course did not happen, so they explain where Aubameyang was.
Aubameyang was due to appear in court regarding the bomb attack on Borussia Dortmund’s bus ahead of their Champions League match with Monaco last year.
Aubameyang was excused due to “high fever”.
The Borussia Dortmund striker was nowhere to be seen in the German courthouse and also did not train.
But, Ruhr Nachrichten confirm the Arsenal deal is done. It is all down to Borussia Dortmund to find a replacement.
They believe that Michy Batshuayi will arrive from Chelsea, and Olivier Giroud will seal his deal to Chelsea. However…
Is Olivier Giroud off to Borussia Dortmund?
German magazine Kicker are usually a good source for transfer news and their update should make good reading for Arsenal fans.
According to Kicker, Borussia Dortmund are back in the race for Olivier Giroud.
The French striker will be part of the Aubameyang deal and will arrive at Dortmund on a free loan from Arsenal.
Whilst Giroud was keen on a move to Chelsea, Antonio Conte pulled the plug on that and is now trying to sign Spurs striker Fernando Llorente.
Borussia Dortmund have a decision to make: Olivier Giroud or Michy Batshuayi. Kicker expect Dortmund to decide today.
