Arsenal ready to sanction Nelson loan exit/Elneny ‘hasn’t decided future’

Updates on the futures of a pair of Arsenal stars who could well find playing time tough to come by this season have been forthcoming online this evening.

Loan departure incoming?

First up comes the latest on Reiss Nelson.

20-year-old Gunners youth product Nelson spent last season back at the Emirates, after showcasing his unquestionable talent during a superb loan spell in Germany with Hoffenheim.

The English youth international, though, for the most part, subsequently found game-time hard to come by.

Whilst he managed a respectable 22 appearances across all competitions, just 7 of these came in the form of starts in the Premier League.

This came with Nelson having been forced to battle it out for a starting berth with club record signing Nicolas Pepe.

As such, with the north Londoners having since also added the talents of Willian to their squad this past summer, the path to consistent first-team football has been blocked even further.

And, as per the latest word stemming from the media, this situation, in turn, could well see Nelson farmed out on loan before the close of the summer transfer window next month.

The news comes courtesy of transfer expert David Ornstein, who this evening explained:

‘It’s at a very early stage of the process so I’m not sure conversations are taking place just yet with interested parties and I’m sure there will be a lot of them. Watch this space on a loan move for Reiss Nelson.’

Turkey return?

The 2nd transfer update on Arsenal’s squad to have arrived on Tuesday, meanwhile, surrounds Mohamed Elneny.

Egyptian international Elneny spent last season out on loan with Besiktas.

The Turkish giants, though, opted against splashing out the sum required to coax Arsenal into a permanent sale, with the 28-year-old having therefore returned to north London this summer.

Elneny, amid a shortage of options in the middle of the park for Mikel Arteta, subsequently went on to start in the Gunners’ first two outings of the campaign, and, all told, thoroughly impressed.

The former Basel man looked much improved, with his composure whilst in possession having proven a particular highlight.

In turn, it had even been suggested that Elneny could go on to carve out a prominent role for himself in the capital giants’ squad over the months ahead.

As per reliable Arsenal reporter Chris Wheatley, however, as things stand, the African’s future remains up in the air.

Galatasaray and Trabzonspor are said to be expressing an interest in his signature, with Elneny’s agent currently in Turkey to discuss a potential return to the country.

Crucially, though, the midfielder himself is yet to decide whether he would rather move on, or stay put at Arsenal to fight for a spot in Mikel Arteta’s midfield:
