Arsenal ‘ready to make an offer’ for Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard/Lacazette shuts down exit talk

The latest speculation stemming from the English media on Friday suggests that Arsenal are preparing a bid for Celtic star Odsonne Edouard.

Bhoys talent

Edouard, a 22-year-old striker, has been on the books of Scottish champions Celtic since the summer of 2017.

And, over the course of the last 3 years, the PSG youth product has gone on to establish himself as one of, if not the most highly-regarded young talent in Scotland.

After impressing during a loan stint in Glasgow during the 2017-18 campaign, Celtic unsurprisingly opted to make Edouard’s signing permanent, with the Frenchman having been the man chosen to replace Moussa Dembele at Parkhead.

And to say that Edouard has since managed to fill the sizable boots of his fellow countryman would be putting it lightly.

Last season saw the gifted hitman rack up a hugely impressive 27 goals, to go along with 19 assists, across all competitions.

Celtic’s opening fixture of the new SPL campaign, meanwhile, saw Edouard continue to dazzle, en route to a hat-trick vs Hamilton:

Emirates bound?

As such, Edouard’s stellar production has inevitably seen the 22-year-old named as a target for some of European football’s heavyweights.

Recent months have seen the likes of Manchester United and Everton both tipped to swoop for the Celtic star.

The outfit most persistently touted as a potential destination, though, have been Arsenal.

And, as outlined above, if the latest word in the English media today is to be believed, then the Gunners appear ready to step up their pursuit.

As per the latest edition of the Transfer Window Podcast, Mikel Arteta’s men have been keeping a close eye on Edouard’s development for 6 months now.

As such, having evidently been impressed by what they’ve seen, Arsenal’s transfer chiefs are said to be readying a proposal for the Frenchman.

The offer in question is expected to be worth a fee in the region of £20 million, plus a further 5 million in add-ons.

It is also noted, however, that Celtic are unlikely to be coaxed into a sale at such a price.

‘Determined to stay’

Interestingly, though, on the same day that Arsenal have been tipped to swoop for Edouard, the man who would likely be forced to make way for his arrival at the Emirates, has reiterated his desire to stay put.

The player is of course Alexandre Lacazette.

Speaking in an interview with L’Equipe (as cited by GFFN), hitman Lacazette was this evening drawn on the widespread speculation surrounding his future ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

The 29-year-old, however, if he has his own way at least, will be going absolutely nowhere this summer:

Lacazette was also keen to shut down suggestions that he could be included in a player exchange deal with Atletico Madrid, involving Thomas Partey:
