Arsenal & Cristian Pavon

There a new player for Arsenal fans to scout on YouTube.

According to reports in both England and Argentina on Tuesday, Arsenal are interested in Boca Juniors forward Cristian Pavon.

Is this another target lined up by Arsenal’s Sven Mislintat?

After 12 rounds of the Argentine season Boca are top of the standings.

Cristian Pavon has been an ever present for the Argentine powerhouse. He’s scored three goals and chipped in with six assists.

‘Deal in the summer’

According to the Independent, rather than looking to sign Pavon in January, Arsenal are considering a summer deal.

For the record Pavon is under contract until 2022.

Readers are told the following about Arsenal’s interest in the 21-year-old:

Juventus and Manchester City have also been following the versatile wide forward, but Arsenal are understood to be closest to pulling the trigger and have commissioned extensive background checks on the player already.

Pavon’s explosive style earmarks him as the perfect replacement for Alexis Sanchez.

Boca would be willing to part with the academy product for offers that begin at £20m up front, with clauses included to account for future success.

It’s also worth noting that Pavon recently received his first international call ups for La Albiceleste.

He’s in with an outside shot of making the Argentine 2018 World Cup squad.

‘Deal in January’

Argentine news outlet TyC Sports have also published an update on Arsenal’s Pavon interest on Tuesday.

According to their report, the Gunners could be set for a January bid for the striker.

Noting that the “Gunners have not made a formal offer”, TyC Sports think a bid “could arrive in the next few hours”.

It’s unclear whether TyC Sports have any additional information on the Pavon story above what the Independent originally reported for upping the potential timetable of an Arsenal bid.
