Everyone’s after Julian Draxler
With seven days remaining in the summer transfer window, PSG’s Julian Draxler looks like being a player in major demand.
In recent week, reports have popped up linking the German World Cup winner with an exit from Paris. Man United, Arsenal, and Liverpool have all been listed as possible suitors.
Draxler joined PSG in January for £35.5m from Wolfsburg.
He impressed at times in his debut season for the French giants, but the arrival of Neymar from Barcelona could push Draxler towards the exit door.
Aside from simple struggling to lock down a first team place at PSG, Draxler could be sold as the Ligue 1 club try to meet UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.
And what about Arsenal? After Arsene Wenger appears to have missed out on Thomas Lemar, could Draxler be a smart alternative?
Man United, meanwhile, failed to land Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan. Draxler, like Perisic, can offer attacking solutions down the left hand side.
The Times last week claimed PSG’s 23-year-old could be available for around £32 million.
Julian Draxler’s agent & Bayern Munich
According to L’Equipe on Thursday, Draxler’s agent, Roger Wittmann, is now “actively looking for a club for his client.”
Interestingly, a few days ago Roger Wittmann spoke to Germany’s Sport 1 to strongly deny that Draxler to Arsenal is happening.
Wittmann has said he “doesn’t care” what’s being written in the press about his client joining the Gunners. He stated “there’s no sign of a change.”
The agent’s position now seems dramatically altered.
L’Equipe report that Wittmann met with Bayern Munich to see if the Bavarians were interested in a deal.
From the outside, however, it seems unlikely Bayern will bite. Draxler is under contract at PSG until 2021, and Bayern are unlikely to meet the Ligue 1 side’s financial demands.
Further, while Bayern are looking at landing a long term replacement for Franck Ribery, Julian Brandt seems the more likely option. The Bayer Leverkusen star is available for 12.5 million euros
